“ DawsonEnter... or fish pie....? Dawson ..enter.... or...... fish... pie...?

Hmmmm, it was hard to know which beautifully prepared dish caused the more excited chatter from the seasoned palates of the Dawson Day guests yesterday! "That's the sort... bring me some" applied equally, I think.

It is always hard to believe that you will be able to beat the previous year's prize-winning concoction, but 2009 not only provided the sumptuous building and refreshments but the exotic and historical Doggett's Men as the piece de resistence. Even these, however, pale in comparison with Dawson 's staff who are always so genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, willing to listen, to accept suggestions, to explain and, best of all, to provide good humoured entertainment. This extends right to the top and it is always astonishing how our names, locations and histories seem to be memorised and available at instant recall!

The day was both a social pleasure and a working education, which is a winning combination. I still don't know how you achieve it, but the best chefs have their secret ingredients! What I do know is that even after all these years I remain deeply impressed by the enthusiasm, dedication and sheer expertise I have witnessed and I would like to thank all concerned for yesterday's unbeatable menu!”
