Books currently employs 200 people at its UK headquarters. Many employees
have long service with Dawson and have consequently built up a wealth
of experience invaluable to the company’s objectives.
Paul Whittingham, Commercial
Director
Paul joined Dawson Books from Dawson Holdings eight years ago. His role
covers the financial side of the business including commercial relationships
and also involves close liaison with the Dawson companies in France, Spain
and the US.
George Hammond, Sales
Manager
George left teaching to join Dawson over 30 years ago and now manages
a talented sales team who travel far and wide. He has played an active
part in the evolution of Dawson’s services and converses with customers
from a highly informed standpoint. In his spare time George likes nothing
better than a challenging climb or white water rafting, but is more likely
to find himself acting as taxi driver to five children.
Wilf Mulliner, Operations
Manager
Wilf is responsible for the welfare of a large team of 100 working in
the areas of Book Servicing, Collating and Invoicing and brings substantial
logistics industry experience to the role. When he has time Wilf enjoys
Rugby as a keen Northampton Saints fan and gets muddy on his Mountain
Bike to keep fit so he can pursue his first love - mountaineering!
Tina Atterbury, Business
Support Manager
Having been with Dawson for 29 years, Tina has worked in many different
departments and has risen through the ranks to manage a team of 16 staff
who provide customer service, bibliographic research, order entry and
urgent fulfilment to our library customers.
Sally Barber, Area Sales
Manager
With 19 years service, Sally is a lynch pin in the Sales Team - taking
the responsibility of visiting our clients in her Sales areas of Scotland,
the North of England, Cambridge and Scandinavia. Like all members of the
Sales Team she works closely with the Customer Team to give the highest
standard of customer care. Sally is a keen supporter of her local rugby
team - Northampton Saints.
Mark Huskisson, Business
Development Manager
Our latest recruit, Mark joined Dawson in March 2008. Bringing huge experience
of the book world, having previously worked at Cambridge University Press
for 12 years, Mark was most recently at YBP Library Services in the UK
as the Sales and Development Director. Mark's exceptional knowledge of
the publishing supply chain and the needs of the global library community
will be used to help drive Dawson forwards in this exciting time of development
for the company.
Mark enjoys sport, travelling,
films and reading yet says that he ends up digging his wife's allotment
and eating the produce. Father to three children, Mark also is a keen
supporter of Notts County Football Club - a factor not lost on our Marketing
Manager Amy Le Corney who follows close rivals Nottingham Forest Football
Club!
Jude Norris, Sales and
Marketing Director
Jude has 10 years industry experience
in publishing and has been instrumental in the development and launch
of dawsonera. Most recently implementing Shibboleth across Access Management
Federations worldwide, and working with libraries to develop a range of
innovative solutions that exploit ebooks to their best advantage. Jude
has been recently promoted to this position.
In her spare time Jude has a
keen interest in music and likes to catch up with the latest art house
films at the cinema.
Heather Sherman, Service
Development Manager
Heather heads the Bibliographic Services Team. She works as part of the
Dawson team to inform and educate Dawson customers in an exciting period
of enhancement at the company. A Chartered Librarian, Heather previously
worked at the University of Hertfordshire, most recently as Systems and
Applications Manager and in 2004 was recognised by her librarian peers
with the award for 'Extraordinary Service to the Voyager Users Group'.
Mark Howard, Content
Manager
Mark is a well respected figure in the information industry with 30 years
experience working with libraries, publishers and database hosts. Mark
has been at Dawson Books for 7 years and now heads up the team introducing
dawsonera - the new eBooks service from Dawson Books. Having trained as
a scientist, he is fully able to comprehend the value of scholarly publications
and the uses to which they are put and is able to bring this to the eBooks
arena.
Amy Le Corney, Marketing
Manager
Amy is CIM qualified and holds a degree in Journalism. She works closely
with all departments to ensure our customer communications and promotions
are designed with our customers in mind.
In addition to this, Amy works
closely with publishers and suppliers to develop and improve the products
and service Dawson delivers. Amy’s outside interests include gardening
and wine-tasting.
